I fall into a breathless heart,
and still, I lay so still to see,
the twinkle I dreamt of from the start,
a candle in your eyes for me.
My longing for you leaves me tired,
and cold, so cold I barely hear,
the gentle verse I long admired,
a timid sonnet to love from fear.
I am in love with a selfish dream,
so long as I close my heart.
When I wake I know it seems,
that by the truth-I’m torn apart.
I fall into a breathless trap,
with nothing to defend,
I make a fantasy mend the gap,
of a loveless solitary end.
